Sanaka Sanatana Dasa manages the goshala with the help of eight full time devotees and a team of workers.

He has worked in the goshala since last October and has already made many significant changes. One of Sanaka Sanatana’s main goals is to raise the quality of the herd. He intends to introduce Red Sindhi and Sahiwal cows, pure breeds from North India.

“These cows have high milk yields, so with a smaller herd we can produce more milk - enough to cover Krishna Balarama’s needs. We have given all of our animals a nametag. Individual files are being kept on their health and progress.

“Dr. V. K. Narula, a qualified vet, comes regularly to check on the herd, and he recently did a seven-day seminar, training our devotees and workers on how to care for our cows.”

Sanaka Sanatana learned a great deal about cows and bulls during the ten years he spent on padayatra in India. He developed a great sensitivity towards them, intuitively understanding their needs. He says, “I realize that cow protection is not complete without agriculture. We have 120 bulls that are just waiting for service, and we eventully hope to grow fodder to keep the bulls busy in the fields.”
